The Wonders of Bone Broth and Pho

Winter is the time of year when we all start to feel a little under the weather. The days are shorter, the weather is colder, and our immune systems take a beating. That’s why it’s crucial to find ways to boost our natural immunity during these months. One great way to do that is by drinking bone broth.

Bone broth contains essential healthy nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It’s also straightforward to make at home. All you need is a pot, some bones, and some water. Let the bones simmer in the water for 24–48 hours, and voila! You’ve got a delicious and healthy soup that will help keep you warm all winter.

What is the best recipe for making bone broth?

Good quality bones are the key to making a delicious and nutritious bone broth. Look for bones with plenty of marrow, as this is where many nutrients are stored. Beef, chicken, and fish bones all make great broths.

If you’re looking for a straightforward recipe, try this one:

Ingredients:

-1 pound bones

-1 onion, chopped

-2 carrots, chopped

-1 celery stalk, chopped

-1 Tablespoon of Turmeric

-1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

-Water

Instructions:

1. Place the bones in a large pot. Cover them with water and add the vinegar. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, allowing the vinegar to break down the bones.

2. Add the chopped vegetables and turmeric to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 24–48 hours.

3. Skim off any foam on the broth’s surface.

4. Strain the broth through a fine mesh strainer and store it in the fridge for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
